Madrid, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain is an open and thriving metropolis that has the ideal mix of contemporary life whilst maintaining Spanish tradition.
With a population of over six million, Madrid is the third largest capital in Europe. It is a welcoming city that is famous for its Mediterranean climate, excellent food and rich culture. Madrid also serves as a cultural bridge to Latin America. Forty years on from the memorable political transition that restored democracy to Spain, the country has undergone profound social and economic changes.

Madrid possesses many world-class attractions and is the only capital city in the world that has six UNESCO World Heritage Cities all within easy reach from the city centre by car or train. The city centre attracts millions of tourists every year with an array of monuments, world-class museums such as the world-famous Prado and architectural highlights including the Royal Palace. Spaniards have a reputation for being welcoming, friendly and warm, resulting in many returning visitors.
